Mary Duffy was born and raised in Westchester County and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from SUNY Oneonta. In 1986 Mary Duffy moved to Monroe with her husband where they raised their three children. For many years, Mary worked freelance in the publishing industry. In 2004 Mary accepted a job in the Reference department of the Monroe Free Library.
For many years Mary juggled both her freelance business and part-time position at the library. In 2011 Mary decided to pursue a Master’s in Library Science degree, a life-long goal. A few months after she graduated, Mary was offered the position of Assistant Director at Monroe Free Library and continues in that position today. Mary became a member of the Greater Monroe Chamber of Commerce in 2013 and was recently voted to serve on the GMCoC Board as Secretary.
Professional Memberships: American Library Association, Public Library Association, New York Library Association, and Society of Human Resource Management.

Stephen Kalmus (Board Member since June 2011, Founding Board Member)
A seasoned veteran of the insurance industry working with Marshall & Sterling, Stephen holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration & Finance from Ramapo College of New Jersey.
He is licensed as a property and casualty, as well as life and health insurance broker through the New York State Insurance Department, and is also a graduate of The Hartford School of Insurance.
Stephen serves on the 2012 Sales Advisory Panel for Marshall & Sterling.
Stephen resides in Monroe with his family.

Charles Pakula (Charlie) has been a Monroe resident for over forty years.
He has been self-employed for most of his adult life having a number of different businesses. Most recently Charlie owned and operated the GNC in Federal Plaza until 2013.
In addition to being one of the founders of the Greater Monroe Chamber of Commerce he volunteers and has led a number of civic and Not-for-Profit organizations in the Town of Monroe.
Charlie also serves as a SCORE Counselor, sharing his knowledge of business and entrepreneurship with those starting a new enterprise or striving to grow their current business.



Susan Roth, AICP is a professional urban planner and owner of Hudson Valley Planning and Preservation.
She has served as a consultant for many of the New York metropolitan’s area municipalities and private clients, consulting on other areas related to the development and planning of projects that would be built in communities.
She is a prolific volunteer in her community, and is an “en Plein Air” artist that is frequently seen around Monroe painting its beautiful scenery.
She founded the Monroe Arts Society, and organized two Plein Air events last year, and plans more “en Plein Air” arts events this year.

Tyler Sloboda, is the proud owner of Javajo’s Coffee Bar and Javajo’s Beer & Wine Bar. As a Monroe-Woodbury graduate, he went on to receive a degree in Criminal Justice before opening his first location (Javajo’s Coffee Bar) in 2012. Tyler has been helping out with the revitalization of Downtown Monroe, which further highlights his commitment and passion of growing his hometown.
