Hosting a GMCoC Mixer
Would you like to host one of the Chamber’s event mixers?
We'll Get Our Members to Notice Your Business
Purpose:
To help member businesses in the Greater Monroe Chamber of Commerce increase exposure for their business and to help members know the host business in greater depth.
Requirements:
Be a member of the Greater Monroe Chamber of Commerce (GMCoC)
Program:
The GMCoC will help business owners increase their exposure by promoting mixers at the host business location as outlined below:
1. A representative of GMCoC Activities Committee will meet with the Business Owner meet to decide whether this will be a Morning Express or an Evening Mixer.
Morning Express – a flexible mixer where members and non‐members can arrive any time after the mixer starts and leave any time before the mixer ends; this allows for a greater number of attendees since the schedule is flexible and no one gets tied up for an extended period (unless they choose too).
- The GMCoC and the Business Owner mutually agree to a date.
- The Business Owner provides location and refreshment (at minimum, coffee and bagels, other baked goods and fruit as they like, paper plates, cups, napkins, etc.)
- The GMCoC promotes the event and conducts “the program”, usually introduction of the business owner and if any member promotional item (e.g. a drawing).
- The business owner is given the opportunity to speak about their business and/or take Chamber members on a “tour” (no more than 10 minutes).
- The GMCoC places a post‐ event article on the GMCoC website and may place an item with the local news papers with photo.
Evening Mixer (other than the GMCoC Monthly Open Meeting) – a one and one‐half to two hour mixer where members and non ‐ members are expected to arrive close to a set ‐ time and anticipated to remain for the event time.
- The GMCoC and the Business Owner mutually agree to a date.
- The Business Owner provides location and refreshment (at minimum soda and finger food, other beverages and food may be served at the Business Owner’s discretion (no hard liquor preferred), plates, glasses, cups, utensils, napkins, etc.)
- The GMCoC promotes the event and conducts “the program”, usually introduction of the business owner and if any member promotional item (e.g. a drawing).
- The business owner is given the opportunity to speak about their business and/or take Chamber members on a “tour” (no more than 10 minutes).
- The GMCoC places a post ‐ event article on the GMCoC web ‐ site and may place an item with the local news papers with photo.
2. The Business Owner may elect to “cater” the event. The choice is up to the host. We suggest a Chamber member if suitable – if a Chamber member is selected they will be advertised in any materials used pre and post event. If it is a non ‐ member the host may place recognition cards or signs at the event in the location of the food/beverage items and can give the caterer verbal recognition when they speak during the event.
